SIX OF THE BEST FOR STRAIGHT HITTING STEVEN BOYD

Monday 11th November 2019

The Remembrance Sunday winner, straight hitting Steven Boyd (2), struck six birdies and kept a six off his card. Suffering nothing worse than three bogey fives Boyd had turned at one under for 20 points. He added another 21 points with a tremendous two under par back nine. Even on a short course 69, nett 67, is a super score.

O’MAHONY MAKES MONEY ON THE OLD COURSE

We played a Stableford in the old course layout at Castletown last Saturday. Anthony O’Mahony (9) began with a bogey but then burnt up the course to finish at four over even after incurring a two shot putting penalty. Three beautiful birdies on the back nine enabled O’Mahony to add 24 points to his opening 19 for a winning 43 points.

DANIEL LAUGHLIN CUT EIGHT SHOTS IN TWO WONDERFUL WEEKS

Having just won the Aon Trophy with 47 points Daniel Laughlin audaciously added the Syd Ashworth Cup to his collection. Laughlin (20) began with a birdie and ignoring an N/R on the Road Hole, and another on the 14th, he completed the course in just six over par. His two nett eagles, nine nett birdies and five nett pars mounted up to 45 points. Consequently Laughlin’s handicap has tumbled from (24) to (16) in two wonderful weeks.

47 POINTS SECURES THE AON TROPHY FOR LAUGHLIN

Daniel Laughlin (24), netted two eagles and ten birdies. This propelled him to 47 winning points in the Aon Trophy and resulted in a four shot reduction to his handicap. With a six over par back-nine, which included a triple bogey on the 11th, it shouldn’t be long before Laughlin drops down another category or two.

Winning the card countback Anthony O’Mahony, David Campbell, Bryan McMahon and Dominic Litton dovetailed particularly well on the all important back nine where they scored 67 points.

BOYD, BRADLEY AND QUAYLE COMBINE TO CASH-IN

Sunday 6th October 2019

Having scored 43, 41 and 35 points respectively the previous week in the Standard Bank sponsored Stableford, Steven Boyd, Gez Bradley and David Quayle combined to cash-in again by walking away with Saturday’s Texas Scramble. Their 59, 13 under par score, included eagles on every par five and their nett score (57.9) was an incredible 2.5 shots better than their closest rivals after application of a 15% three man team handicap adjustment.
